1Jung Ho-Yeon in Louis Vuitton
Momodu Mansaray//Getty ImagesThe former model and Squid Game star kept things chic and low-key, if you can call a beaded Louis Vuitton gown “low-key.” Sparkly it may be, but we like the subtle elegance of the design. The hair flower is a whimsical touch.
2Lily James in Atelier Versace
CHRIS DELMAS//Getty ImagesThe Pam & Tommy star looked like she had her dress poured onto her, so impeccable was the fit on the shimmering bronze goddess gown. It’s sexy and glamorous, but it’s also got a certain restraint to it that makes it chic.

3Robin Thede in Christian Siriano
Trae Patton/NBC//Getty ImagesThe star of The Black Lady Sketch Show looked spectacular in this light-blue gown with a scarf detail. The hair, makeup, and earrings are all perfect for it. We just wish the bust had a little more structure or coverage to it.

5Sandra Oh in Rodarte
Mark Von Holden/NBC//Getty ImagesThe Killing Eve star worked a stunning purple suit with just the right combination of sparkle and comfort to highlight her innate coolness.
6Christina Ricci in Fendi
Trae Patton/NBC//Getty ImagesThe star of Yellowjackets took the opportunity to remind everyone that when you get her out of her character’s dowdy scrubs and bad perm, she is an absolute master at working the slinkiest of gowns and the killer bangs to go with it. She looks drop-dead gorgeous in this.

7Selena Gomez in Celine
Christopher Polk/NBC//Getty ImagesWe loved the idea of this gown a little more than the reality of it. The style looks fantastic on Only Murders in the Building star, with the perfect combination of sexy and sophisticated for her. We love the pop of color the green earrings provide. But the fit through the top looks a little loose and we’re not crazy about the half-sheer skirt.
8Lizzo in Matthew Reisman
Kevin Winter//Getty ImagesThe “About Damn Time” singer and star of Lizzo’s Watch Out for the Big Girls was a vision of gorgeous confidence in this bold red dress with angel wing sleeves and an exuberant train. She looks fantastic in that red, the proportions of the design are perfect, and the whole look feels like a celebration.

9Elle Fanning in Sharon Long
Frazer Harrison//Getty ImagesThe star of The Great turned to the series’ costume designer Sharon Long to create this head-turning gown inspired by the 1950s couture styles she loves so dearly. She was born to wear these sorts of styles, and there’s no denying that she pulls all the focus toward her on the red carpet, but we’re not sure we can sign off on that hair.
10Hannah Waddingham in Dolce & Gabbana
Christopher Polk/NBC//Getty ImagesSeemingly taking a break from her signature bodycon gowns, the Ted Lasso star sported this unexpected princess gown with serious Barbie undertones to it. It’s pretty, but the design feels a little stale to us.

11Natasha Rothwell in Safiyaa
Evans Vestal Ward/NBC//Getty ImagesThe star of The White Lotus looked like royalty in this beautiful red dress with puffy shoulders and a ball gown skirt. Her hair looks gorgeous, but if we could make one suggestion, we’d have recommended a signature piece of jewelry somewhere. A queen should be sporting some killer jewels.
12Sydney Sweeney in Oscar de la Renta
Mark Von Holden/NBC//Getty ImagesThe double nominee for both Euphoria and The White Lotus went for classic elegance with this lovely and restrained Oscar de la Renta gown that evoked old Hollywood screen sirens of yore. We kinda wish she’d worn her hair up with it though.

13Sarah Paulson in Louis Vuitton
CHRIS DELMAS//Getty ImagesThe American Crime Story: Impeachment star made us all forget the padding and prosthetics she wore to play informant and Monica Lewinsky nemesis Linda Tripp by sporting this head-turning design from Louis Vuitton. She always loves to take up space and do things a little weird, which we appreciate, but that boxy top just isn’t working for us.
14Rhea Seehorn in Georges Chakra
Momodu Mansaray//Getty ImagesWe like an unexpected color choice or a design with a twist as much as any two red carpet commenters can, but as much as we appreciate that Rhea Seehorn went off the beaten style path a little, we can’t escape the impression that the Better Call Saul star’s top looks like bacon.

15Quinta Brunson in Dolce & Gabbana
Frazer Harrison//Getty ImagesThe Abbott Elementary creator and star said she wanted to go for a “teeny-tiny Jessica Rabbit,” vibe and we’d say she mostly pulled it off in this bronze D&G gown. The fit of the bodice is spectacular, but we wish the skirt didn’t come off so flimsy in comparison. We’d have liked it better if it matched the top.
16Connie Britton in Monique Lhuillier
Momodu Mansaray//Getty ImagesThe White Lotus star opted for a look that could charitably be called classic but looks way too mumsy and mature for her from where we’re sitting.

17Jean Smart in Christian Siriano
CHRIS DELMAS//Getty ImagesThe Hacks star looked elegantly sexy and striking in this all-white custom Siriano gown that she almost wore to last year’s Emmys ceremony. We just wish she’d worn a necklace to set off that gorgeous neckline a little more.
18Zendaya in Valentino
ROBYN BECK//Getty ImagesPure stunning perfection. What more needs to be said? The star of Euphoria absolutely never gets it wrong on the red carpet and she’s shown a particular affinity for wearing classic styles that evoke old-school Hollywood. It’s a cliché to say someone’s channeling Audrey Hepburn on the red carpet, but this is as close as you get to the classic star’s legendary style without lapsing into cosplay.

19Melanie Lynskey in Christian Siriano
Frazer Harrison//Getty ImagesThe star of Yellowjackets looked so pretty in this custom Christian Siriano, but we tend to think it had a lot to do with the styling, which is flawless. We like the pale-green color and the light, sort of confection-like feel of the design, but there are way too many ruffles on that hem, we’re afraid.
20Amanda Seyfried in Armani Prive
Trae Patton/NBC//Getty ImagesThe star of The Dropout ditched the slouchy, nondescript turtlenecks she sported as Theranos founder Elizabeth Holmes for a sparkly mermaid fantasy gown that had just the right touch of whimsy without sacrificing any elegance. That color looks amazing on her.
